Everybody loves a theme party! And living near Boston gives us plenty of history and background to throw some super crazy Boston themed parties. I've been inspired by the wacky ideas in this article from Food & Beverage Magazine but came up with a few of my own as well!
1. Salem Witch Party
If you're from Boston, then you've probably been to Salem, MA around Halloween. This one is an easy as they come - everyone is familiar with the Salem Witch trials. Have people dress up, put some fake gallows in your front yard, and play a mystery game!
2. Boston Tea Party
One of the greatest moments of rebellion in American history occurred on December 16, 1773 when 342 chests of British shipped Indian tea were dumped into the Boston harbor by tax-protesting patriots. Celebrate this defining moment in Boston's history with an afternoon tea or ladies luncheon. Decorate in a "shabby chic" style with white tablecloths, wooden furniture, and empty crates to commemorate the event! Serving a meat pie will highlight the colonial era. I would also suggest serving tea sandwiches if the event is a luncheon or an afternoon tea. A fantastic idea is to make tea flavored ice cream - ice cream was a treat our founding fathers enjoyed in the heat of summer!
3. New England Sports Party
If you live in New England, chances are you're a New England sports fan. I love the Patriots and never turn down a chance to host a watch party on Sundays throughout the fall and winter. The key to hosting a fabulous sports party is to make sure you have a TV to clearly show whatever game is on and plenty of snacks. I would recommend this spinach & artichoke dip and easy nachos in the oven!
4. Chow down on Chowdah Party
The easiest party for some summertime fun! Cook up a big batch of New England Clam Chowder. Serve tons of oyster crackers (yum!), decorate with a nautical theme, and serve Dark & Stormys (recipe in this post!).
