5 Creative Cocktails for your next Boston Cookout

With summer in full swing, what better way to celebrate then hosting a cookout for friends or family. Here are 5 creative cocktails for your next Boston cookout that are sure to keep your guest cool and help you forget how horrible last winter was.

1. Watermelon & Ginger Refresh

This refreshing and tasty cocktail is sure to keep your guest cool. 

Ingredients (serves 6-8):
2 cups pureed watermelon (seedless) 
1/2 cup Ginger Syrup
1 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
1 cup cold sparkling water
Fresh mint, for garnish
Ice

Directions: 

Combine watermelon puree, ginger syrup, lime juice, and sparkling water. Pour over ice. Garnish with mint. 

 

2.  Sailor's Dream

If you live by the beach or in a nautical mood, whip up an easy rum drink that will have your guest dreaming of beaches in Barbados. 

Ingredients:

1 part Eclipse Mount Gay Rum
3 parts Tonic Water
Lime Wedge
Ice

Directions:

In a highball glass over ice, pour rum and top with tonic.  Garnish with a lime wedge. Enjoy, mate!

3.  Dark & Stormy

Although a classic, I would be remiss to leave this tried and true cocktail off my list. 

Ingredients:

1 part dark rum (Gosling's Black Rum preferred)
2 parts ginger beer
1 lime

Directions: 

Combine rum and ginger beer. Pour over ice. Squeeze lime juice into drink and garnish with lime. Enjoy!

4. Paloma

Every party needs tequila. Here's a refreshing option perfect for hot afternoon days.  

Ingredients:

1 part tequila (blanco or reposado recommended)
3 parts grapefruit juice
Splash of club soda
Squeeze of fresh lime juice
Salt or sugar for rimming (optional)

Directions:

Combine tequila, grapefruit juice, and club soda. Pour over ice. Add squeeze of lime juice and salt or sugar rim. 

5. Strawberry Sipper

This simple cocktail is a win, especially if you want to add a little color to the table. 

Ingredients:

10 pureed strawberries
Prosecco 
Strawberries for garnish 

Directions: 

Combine pureed strawberries and prosecco in a champagne flute. Garnish with strawberry.
